Dengue fever suddenly appears in Mombasa, Kenya

Reports of 15 cases of dengue fever in Mombasa has raised concerns for further spread of the infection. There may be many more unreported cases since counting andreporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and manypersons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas wherethe dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to denguefever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
