Some areas of Kenya extremely dangerous - 30-day curfew in Lamu County, Kenya

The Inspector General of Police has declared a 30-day dusk to dawn curfew for Lamu County, Kenya. The curfew is in effect from Sunday, July 20 to August 20, from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am. The Boni forest and other forests in the area are off limits.

Due to the high level of crime and threat of terrorist attack, many countries continue to advise citizens to avoid all travel to Lamu county and avoid unnecessary travel to coastal Tana River county. Also avoid unnecessary travel to Nairobi, the Mombasa region, including Diani Beach, and avoid all travel to border areas with South Sudan Ethiopia, and Somalia. The security situation in these areas is extremely dangerous.
