Dengue fever kills 6 and infects more than 1,000 people in Panama

Health officials are urging the local population to take measures to control mosquitoes as the total number of reported dengue fever cases reaches 1,008. There have been 6 deaths recorded and at least 20 persons are reported to be seriously ill. During the last few days, hospitals had reported 100 new cases to the Ministry of Health.

Travellers to Panama should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue fever virus and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
