2 people killed by bomb in central Mogadishu, Somalia

Although security in Mogadishu has improved somewhat since Islamic militants vacated the city, there is still a high threat to personal safety. A suicide car bomber killed 2 people in the centre of Mogadishu today in what appeared to be an attack on an African Union peacekeeper convoy. Travellers should be aware that there is a lack of personal security due to armed conflict, bombings, the very high threat of terrorist attack and dangerous levels of violent crime, including kidnapping and assassination.
