2016 may be record year for dengue fever in Singapore

So far this year, there have been slightly more than 4,500 people diagnosed with dengue fever. Three people have died. Approximately 500 to 600 people seek treatment for dengue every week. At this rate, by the end of this year, the number of infected people will be at a record high.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
