41 new cases of dengue fever in 1 week in Cochabamba, Bolivia

In the past week, 41 new cases of dengue fever were admitted to the Central Hospital in Cochabamba. So far this year, there have been almost 10,000 suspected cases of dengue fever. There may be many more cases of dengue that are not reported. Counting and reporting cases may be difficult due to lack of local access to health care. Many persons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
