5 cases of cholera reported every day in Huambo, Angola

Health authorities are registering 5 new cases of cholera every day in Huambo Municipality since the beginning of the outbreak in November this year. At least 8 people have died. The infection is being reported from Calomanda, Macolocolo, Calundo, Santo Antonio Chiva, and Benfica Frederico, in the outskirts of the capital city.

Travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
