8 die from dengue fever in Jambi Province in West Indonesia

In the month of January 2012, health officials have recorded a total of 118 cases of dengue fever and 8 deaths in Jambi Province in West Indonesia.

Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
