A new outbreak of malaria in southern Honduras

A new malaria outbreak in an area previously declared free from malaria has been reported in Marcovia in southern Honduras. At present 39 cases but no deaths have been reported so far.

‚ÄčTravellers to this region can reduce their risk of exposure to malaria by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
