About 2,900 malaria cases have been reported in hospitals in the Yamunanagar district in India.

Health officials in Yamunanagar in the Indian state of Haryana have reported about 2,900 malaria cases at government and private hospitals of the Yamunanagar district in the past month. About 1,450 cases have been detected in the Khijrabad belt in Pipli Majra, Bahadurpur and Bambepur. About 300 cases have been detected in Naharpur, 300 cases in Sadhaura, 125 cases in Bilaspur and about 725 cases in other parts of the district, including Radaur and Mustafabad. It has been found that waterlogging in some parts of the district after floods was creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Travellers should be aware of the areas where malaria transmission is on-going and take all the necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites when visiting these areas. In areas where malaria exposure is common, anti-malaria medication is recommended.
