Acid attack against a woman in India

In the latest of a series of acid attacks on women in India, two men on a motorbike threw acid on a women in the Rajouri Garden market area.

Women from all walks of life have been attacked. Between 2010 and 2012, there were 225 “reported” cases of acid attacks, although some groups say the number is much higher. Women travellers in India should exercise caution in general. For example, stay off the streets after dark and take a taxi or rickshaw to restaurants. Avoid revealing clothing and dress conservative to avoid being targeted. Do not accept drinks from a stranger. Indian women rarely drink alcohol in public, including in hotel bars.
