Active transmission of malaria in state of Gujurat, India

Reports from Tapan in South Dinajpur that 13 construction workers who worked as labourers in Gujarat have been diagnosed with severe malaria indicate that there is active transmission of this disease in this state in western India.

Travellers to this state in India should be aware of the risk of exposure to malaria and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
