Adulterated alcohol kills 63 people in Kenya

During the past week, at least 63 people have died after consuming adulterated alcohol. At least 70 people are hospitalized. Many of the cases occurred in Embu, but others have occurred across the country. The source of the alcohol is not known at present.

From time to time, Sitata learns of large scale poisonings in various countries due to consumption of unauthorized, illegal alcohol. Travellers should exercise caution and avoid consuming any alcoholic beverage that is not produced by a known and reliable commercial source.
