Air pollution alert due to high ozone levels in Mexico City

Due to high ozone levels (one and one-half times acceptable levels), another pollution alert has been issued for Mexico City. The current rainy season has not been able to wash the pollution out of the air. The first alert in almost 14 years was issued in March.

Advice For Travellers

Ozone is a colourless gas which irritates the respiratory system, aggravates asthma and even causes permanent lung damage. Persons with pre-existing lung and heart disease should avoid travel to this city at this time or remain indoors until ozone levels subside.
