Ambush in northern Kenya kills many police

While trying to recover cattle that were stolen from the Samburu tribe by the Turkana tribe, between 37 and 42 police officers were ambushed and killed in the Baragoi District in norther Kenya. Many more officers were injured. This incident underscores the need for extreme caution when travelling in northern Kenya. Several countries advise their citizens to avoid all travel in northern Kenya, particularly in border regions with Somalia, including Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Lamu districts, and borders with South Sudan and Ethiopia; Isiolo, Moyale and the A2 highway.
