Learn moreAnother health district in Uganda runs out of antimalaria medication
In Masaka district, health centres in Kiyumba, Kyabakuza, Kyanamukaka and Buwunga and the Masaka municipal clinic have no antimalaria medication to treat patients with this infection. The shortage of medications is due to an increase in malaria cases from approximately 10 patients per day to between 40 and 50 cases each day.
Advice
All travellers to any region where malaria transmission is occurring can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Anti-malaria medication is recommended.
