Another typhoid fever outbreak reported in Harare, Zimbabwe

Judicial courts in Harare were closed after at least 5 magistrates and 20 clerks were suspected of having contracted typhoid fever. Lack of a safe water supply in the judicial complex is thought to have precipitated the outbreak. This city has experienced major typhoid fever outbreaks in the recent past. Travellers can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
