Another village in Fiji is hit with a typhoid fever outbreak

Health authorities have reported at total of 17 cases of typhoid fever, 9 of whom have been hospitalized. The remainder were treated in Draubuta, the site of the outbreak.

Travellers to this area can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
