Anti-US protests - APEC Summit in Philippines

The 2015 APEC Summit hosted by the Philippines has opened in Manila. Anti-U.S. protests are occurring to oppose the visit by the Chinese president and the U.S. president.

The Philippine National Police have warned foreigners not to join protest actions. Police will be exercising “maximum tolerance” toward protests during the conference.

Expect increased security measures in Manila. Expect some road closures.

Permits to carry firearms in Metro Manila will be suspended during the country’s hosting of the APEC Summit Meeting from November 16 to 20.
