Armed conflict in southern Sudan

Clashes between southern Sudan's army and rebel militia fighters resulted in the deaths of 31 people. Most of the deaths were southern army soldiers. In addition, 2 drivers of civilian trucks were killed by land mines in the same area.

Travellers to this area should be aware that the situation is unsettled and that more than 800 people have died in violent clashes between between soldiers and at least seven bands of renegade fighters.
