Armed conflict with Boko Haram intensifies along Chad-Nigerian border

The on-going armed conflict with Boko Haram intensified in the past few days as armed forces from Chad attacked the rebels near the northeastern Nigerian town of Gamboru. At least 200 Boko Haram fighters were killed. Meanwhile, in a separate event, Boko Haram fighters killed many people in the town of Fotokol on the Nigerian-Cameroonian border.

All travel to northern Nigeria should be avoided, especially along border areas.
