Advice For Travellers

Travellers should exercise caution when travelling by boat or ferry in India or other developing country. Boats and ferries may be overcrowded, lack adequate safety equipment, and may be poorly maintained. To minimize safety risk, depart and arrive during daylight hours on days with good visibility. Avoid boat or ferry travel during stormy weather. If you begin to feel a boat or ferry is overcrowded or not safe, leave the vessel immediately. Be aware of exits and exit routes. Be aware of the location of life jackets.
