Authorities declare an end to hand, foot and mouth disease epidemic in Sarawak, Malaysia

After recording a total of 12,896 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease this year, health authorities in Sarawak have declared an end to the epidemic. Nevertheless, sporadic cases may still occur. Travellers who are travelling with small children who are most susceptible to infection with this virus can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
