Bangkok, Thailand, in second day of shut down

Thousands of Thai anti-government protesters are continuing their demonstrations across Bangkok. Protesters are occupying several major intersections of the city, and some reports indicate that some government buildings have been surrounded to discourage people from getting to work.

Although the atmosphere is described as “festive,” the government deployed 10,000 police to maintain law and order, along with 8,000 soldiers at government offices. Some fear that the city is on the brink of widespread violence in the call for the resignation of the prime minister.
