Bangladesh: Fog May Cause Intermittent Disruption at Dhaka Airport During Winter Season

Dense fog due to the winter season in Bangladesh often disrupts flight operations from midnight to noon at the airports, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The winter season generally lasts until February, and January is generally the coldest month of the season.

Earlier on 14 and 16 January, flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were suspended from 03:00 (local time) to approximately 10:00 due to thick fog. Some flights were also diverted to other airports.

Advice

Further disruptions due to fog are expected in the coming days. Travellers using Bangladesh airports should get in touch with their airline or travel agents to confirm the status of their bookings.
