Big increase in number of reported cases of dengue fever in Selangor, Malaysia

Health authorities have noted a significant increase in the number of dengue fever cases. So far a total of 1,581 cases have been registered. Most of the cases have come from Petaling, Hulu Langat, Klang and Gombak.

Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and may not be reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community that are not reported.
