At least six people were killed by a homemadeexplosive device in a restaurant in an upscale area of Cagayan de Oro. Most of the victims were attending a local pharmaceutical conference.Although a relatively peaceful city, this area is in the region where Islamistmilitants and Maoist rebels operate, some with ties to Al-Qaeda.
