Blockade of Calais port disrupts Channel crossings

A union strike, along with migrants trying to break into the French Eurotunnel terminal and Calais port, has caused chaos at the port of Calais. The port is closed; and the port and Channel Tunnel are blocked by burning tires.

All ferries between Dover and Calais have been suspended. There are large traffic jams and delays on other cross-channel ferry routes. Eurotunnel has reduced train service, and vehicle shuttle services are disrupted by severe congestion. Ships cannot enter or leave the port. There are long lines of traffic on the roads into Calais.

Advice For Travellers

Expect delays in ferry schedules, the Eurotunnel, and major traffic congestion and delays. Delays may continue for awhile after the port is opened.
