Both dengue fever and Zika viruses continue increasing in Singapore

Singapore continues recording the highest number of dengue fever cases since 2015. At the same time, although the total number of cases is small (now slightly more than 250), the number of people infected with Zika virus is growing quickly since the virus appeared just weeks ago.

Advice For Travellers

The risk of exposure will vary from place to place and may be high in many localities in the city.

All travellers to areas where these viruses are active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue or Zika infections do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
