Brazilian activists clash with riot police

Indigenous activists in traditional headdress protested in Brasilia today against legislation that affects some of their reserves. Riot police fired tear gas and protesters threw the canisters back at the police. Some demonstrators rallying against the World Cup joined in the protests.

Protests have occurred almost daily in these weeks leading up to the World Cup, however, the recent protests have been much smaller in numbers than last year. The World Cup beings June 12.
