British Airways suspends flights to Saudi Arabia due to security threat

British Airways (BA) has temporarily suspended flights to Saudi Arabia due to a specific terrorist threat to BA planes and United Kingdom aviation interests in Saudi Arabia. The U.S. State Department had credible indications of threats against American and Western interests that also include civilian and cargo aircraft. There were reports that Riyadh airport was under surveillance by al-Qaeda sympathisers.

The U.S. State Department issued a warning to American citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia at this time.
