Brussels security update

Some media reports indicate that mayor of Brussels has asked restaurants and cafes in the centre of town to close at 18:00 (6:00 pm). The city’s metro system remains closed until Sunday afternoon at the earliest. Many shops and shopping malls are partly closed, football matches and concerts are cancelled. Most music venues, museums, and galleries are closed for the weekend.

Advice

Authorities are recommending that people shelter in place and/or remain at home. If you must go out, avoid area with large crowds and public areas such as major pedestrian walkways and shopping centres. Authorities are asking people to reconsider attending any events this weekend.Exercise caution in any public transportation system, at sporting events, residential areas, business offices, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, schools, public areas, shopping malls and tourist destinations.
