Burkina Faso army retakes last of coup military camp

Burkina Faso soldiers have retaken a military camp held by presidential guard officers, who refused to disarm after a failed coup earlier this month. The international airport, which was closed yesterday, has now reopened.

Advice For Travellers

The security situation in this country could change quickly and unexpectedly. There is a nationwide curfew from 23:00 (11 pm) to 5:00 a.m. Avoid unnecessary travel around Ouagadougou.

Avoid areas around the Presidential Palace, the Place de la Nation, military camps, all locations south of Avenue Pascal Zagre (the road between Hotel Laico and the Embassy). Exercise caution around the Ouagadougou International Airport.

The U.S. Department of State posted a notice on September 29 for U.S. citizens to “shelter in place.”
