Burundi remains in state of crisis

Protesters have gathered in the streets of Bujumbura today. Police have used tear gas to attempt to disperse the crowd and have arrested at least eight people.

Reports show that land borders have reopened. The international airport has reopened, but expect cancellations and delays. It is recommended that you leave Burundi as soon as it is safe to do so.

The presidential poll is due to be held on June 26. Protests and possibly violence against the incumbent’s bid for a third term are expected to continue.
