California wildfire destroys homes and creates state of emergency

A formal state of emergency was declared for three northern California counties as a large wildfire threatens the town of Mineral, a community of less than 200 people just south of Lassen National Volcanic Park. At least 64 homes have been destroyed so far. Travellers should exercise caution and avoid travelling in the affected area until this unpredictable fire is brought under control.
