Cambodia Ministry warns of possible dengue fever epidemic

Health authorities have warned the public of a possible epidemic of dengue fever this year. Reported cases of dengue fever have increased nationwide compared to last year. So far there have been 1,346 reported cases. Most of the cases have been in children and adolescents aged 5 to 14 years. Three infected children died.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
