Canada stops visas for nationals from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone

Canada joins Australia in denying visas for foreign nationals who have visited West African nations with widespread and persistent/intense transmission of the Ebola Virus Disease. Health care workers in West Africa will be permitted to travel back to Canada. At the same time, the United Nations Ebola coordinator said it is not necessary to quarantine people merely because they come from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea.

It is unfortunate that these policies are promulgated, since the vast majority of the 20+ million people in the 3 affected countries, that have reported about 10,000 cases, do not have Ebola.
