Carmel coated apples cause 2 deaths in Minnesota, USA

The Minnesota Departments of Health and Agriculture are warning consumers to avoid consuming any brands of commercially-produced pre-packaged caramel apples. Four persons were infected with Listeria bacteria in October and November, and 2 of them died. Although the distributors of the implicated apples have withdrawn the product, any remaining commercially prepared apples should be discarded.
