Cases of cholera reported in Kasese District, Uganda

Health officials in Kasese confirmed an outbreak of cholera in the district. At least 6 people with cholera were admitted in the isolation unit at Bwere General Hospital last week. Most of the victims were residents of Nyabugando ward.

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
