Cases of illness due to contaminated cheese (see Sitata alert, September 17) increase

There are now 14 cases of serious illness caused by E.coli infection being investigated by the Public Health Agency of Canada. The cases (4 in British Columbia, 8 in Alberta, 1 in Saskatchewan and 1 in Quebec) became ill between mid-July and early September and have been traced to consumption of cheese products manufactured by Gort's Gouda Cheese Farm in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Any travellers who may have purchased these products should discard them at once.
