Cases of typhoid fever continue to be reported in Fiji

There have been 7 cases of typhoid detected on Taveuni so far this year. The cases have been diagnosed in Qamea, Matei, Dreketi, Navakawau and Vatuulo Estate. Travellers to Fiji can reduce their risk of exposure to typhoid fever by being cautious and avoiding consuming contaminated food or water. Vaccination against typhoid fever should be considered, especially if unsafe food cannot be avoided.
