Mexico:

  • Guerrero - 71 cases; Declining trend
  • Veracruz - 58 cases; Declining trend
  • Yucatan - 49 cases; Declining trend

Bolivia - 478 cases

Brazil - all states 565,510 cases; 247 deaths

  • Amazonas - 663 cases
  • Paraná - 8,937; most affected cities include Peabiru, Paranavai, Sao Carlos do Ivai
  • São Paulo - 1,372 cases

Colombia:

  • Santander - 156 cases; 1 dengue haemorrhagic fever case; Increasing trend
  • Atlantico - 104 cases; most affected city Soledad
  • Sucre - 109 cases; 2 dengue haemorrhagic fever cases; most affected cities include Sincelejo, Buenavista, Sampues, Corozal, Morroa, Toluviejo.

Ecuador: all areas 722 cases; 2 deaths

  • Sucumbios - 173 cases; 3 dengue haemorrhagic fever; Increasing trend.

Paraguay: 16,013 cases; 19 deaths; most affected Departments include Central, Asunción, Alto Paraná

Peru (Ucayali region) - 65 cases; most affected district Rupa Rupa

Venezuela (Carabobo state) - 50 cases; 1 dengue haemorrhagic case

There may be many more cases in the community than are reported due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
