Central Vietnam suffers major floods

Extremely heavy rains have caused extensive flooding and landslides in central Vietnam. At least 34 people have died while 80,000 have left their homes. Tourist areas such as Hoi An and Hue are inundated. Transportation by road, air and rail has been severely affected across the region. Rain is expected to continue in the coastal provinces of Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh.

Travellers should avoid travel in the affected areas, since essential services, including transportation, are severely disrupted.
