Chinese tourist group suffers food poisoning while visiting Taiwan

Fourteen members of a group of 40 tourists from Hubei Province, developed food poisoning after consuming a fish soup while visiting Yeliu in Taipei on Taiwan. Travellers can reduce the risk of exposure to the many germs that cause intestinal illness (such as food poisoning, salmonellosis, traveller's diarrhoae, etc.) by avoiding consumption of contaminated food and water (especially when sold by street vendors) and by practicing careful personal hygiene with frequent hand washing.

Visit our Health Library for more information on exposure to and the prevention of Food and Water Contamination and Traveller's Diarrhoea.
