Cholera an ongoing issue in South Sudan since last year

Since July 2016, cholera has been a consistent threat in South Sudan. According to the latest reports in early February 2017, outbreaks are currently seen in 9 out of 32 states, and since July 2016, 4,705 people have been infected and 90 people have died from cholera.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers can minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Strictly observe all food and water precautions in any area where there is cholera. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
