Cholera cases decrease in Haiti but remain threat to public health

Although reported cholera cases have decreased recently, the disease remains a threat. There were 221 cases reported last week and 724 the week before that. Areas where cholera is still very active include Centre, Nord and Nord-Este. Affected municipalities include Saint-Michel, Quartier-Morin, and Cerca-La-Source. Travellers to Haiti can reduce the risk of exposure tocholera by strictly observing all food and water precautions. Ifgastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and watery diarrhoea) develop whilevisiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
