Cholera cases increase in Haiti

There has been a resurgence of cholera cases in Haiti. One treatment centre has reported treating over 2,000 patients in the past week in the capital city, Port-au-Prince. In other areas, treatment centres are reopeining to cope with the new cases.

Travellers to Haiti should be aware that there is a high risk of exposure to cholera and that cholera is now a common illness in this country. Travellers should exercise careful hand washing and personal hygiene and take all necessary precautions to avoid consuming unsafe food and water.
