Cholera continues to be a serious public health problem in the Democratic Republic of the CongoHaiti

Since the beginning of epidemic earlier this year along the Congo River, a total of 7,722 cases of cholera with 426 deaths have been reported. Equateur Province has reported 3,040 cases and 140 deaths while Bandundu Province has recorded 2,301 cases and 138 deaths, Eastern Province, 1,631 cases and 84 deaths and Kinshasa, 750 cases with 39 deaths, respectively.

Travellers in these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to cholera by taking all necessary precautions to avoid consuming contaminated food and water.
