Cholera continues to spread in Zimbabwe

A new outbreak of cholera involving 5 cases has been reported in Chingwizi resettlement camp. Nearly 3,000 Tokwe-Mukosi flood victims are resettled in the area, and local authorities are concerned that cholera might spread in this community due to lack of sanitary facilities.

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
