Cholera deaths in two Nigerian states

Cholera has caused the deaths of 8 persons, while 25 others have been hospitalized in Anambra. Meanwhile, in Bayelsa, the number of cholera deaths increased to 23. The affected areas include Otuan, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, and Osiama and Ekede in Sagbama Local Government Area.

All travellers to any area where cholera has been reported can reduce the risk of exposure to this infection by strictly observing all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
